Tip: Smile When You Say That
Sept122011Smile
Smiling while talking pays off in many conversations.
When our face is happy, people feel good about us.
In business, genuine smiles by waitstaff reap bigger tips.;
smiling shoe clerks sell more shoes; bank tellers who smile
get higher evaluations from customers. These results
are consistent throughout the business world.
In social and family life, smiling also pays off when
meeting strangers, re-connecting with friends, and
maintaining a positive, loving feeling in the family.
Exceptions include: When enforcing orders by law enforcement
officers, school officials, and angry parents. And when
you intend to send a "this is serious" message.
When you contact friendly feelings within yourself,
your smiling will be genuine. Almost everyone, including
children, sense if your smile is fake. Don't fake it.
